The main requirement for playing ice hockey is good skating (after all, you can't play football if you can't run)
Do look at the rinks skating course information by clicking here courses
Read a bit about the sport to make sure its for you courtesy of Wikipedia
We divide the entry into two groups - these are just guidelines so always talk to a coach to find out how the system will suit you.

Under 10 years old
You should be able to skate forwards turn and come to a stop.

You will require full ice hockey equipment.
The cost is about £7.00 for each session, do not pay at reception, the manager collects the fees.
There is an annual (August to July) insurance fee which is compulsory. Cost £30.00
Come along on any School day Monday by 4:45pm and ask to speak to the Under 8s manager or coach.
A coach will get you on the ice at some time in the session (you have to be patient) and will watch your skating for about 5-10 minutes. If he feels you are OK to join in he will hand you and your parents over to the manager who will explain the equipment, money and administration side of things. The manager may also be able to help out with kit loan.

Please note that children under 8 years old have special protection afforded to them. The most obvious being full kit has to be worn. But also there must be a parent or nominated guardian rinkside whilst that child is on the ice.

Age 10 to 12
You should be able to skate forwards, backwards and do a hockey stop.
You will require some ice hockey equipment.
The cost is about £7.00 for each session, do not pay at reception, the manager collects the fees.
There is an annual (August to July) insurance fee which is compulsory. Cost £30.00
Come along on any School day Monday by 4:45pm and ask to speak to the Stick & Puck manager or coach.
The manager will arrange a skating test (it may not be on the first night) and a coach will watch your skating for about 5-10 minutes. If he feels you are OK to join in he will hand you and your parents over to the manager who will explain the equipment, money and administration side of things. The manager may also be able to help out with kit loan.

Age 13 and over
For the past few years Bracknell has run a very active beginners session for children over 12 years of age. Unfortunately for the season 2010/2011 Bracknell Ice Hockey Club is unable to offer a beginners session for children aged 13 and over.
You are welcome to contact the team manager/coach for a try-out, but if you are a beginner we suggest you contact Guildford, Slough or Basingstoke clubs.

Once a player is accepted into a playing team he or she will have to pay full subscriptions. The fee for the year is approximately £800.00. Exact rates can be found out by asking the managers.
