Information on the sport

The best way to learn about the sport is to come and watch. Entry to all junior games is free. The Hornets and the Bees offer top quality senior hockey.
Hockey fans are very friendly and most will be willing to share their knowledge of the game.

Future players 12 years old and under

You should be able to skate forwards turn and come to a stop.
If your skating ability is UK level 3 or you have just done some public ice skating or roller skating then please follow the link on the Learn To Play section of this website and use the contact details provided for further information.
If currently playing in a Junior Ice Hockey Club (or roller hockey) in the UK and are interested in trialling for Bracknell ice hockey club then please contact head coach Mike Simmons (under contacts) to arrange a trial at the appropriate age group.

You will require full ice hockey equipment.
The cost is about £7.00 for each session, do not pay at reception, the manager collects the fees. And there is an annual (August to July) insurance fee which is compulsory. The cost is around £30.00
Come along on any School day Monday by 4:45pm and ask to speak to the Under 8s manager or coach.
A coach will get you on the ice at some time in the session (you have to be patient) and will watch your skating for about 5-10 minutes. If he feels you are OK to join in he will hand you and your parents over to the manager who will explain the equipment, money and administration side of things. The manager may also be able to help out with kit loan.
Please note that children under 8 years old have special protection afforded to them. The most obvious being full kit has to be worn. But also there must be a parent or nominated guardian rinkside whilst that child is on the ice.

Aged 13 and over

Unfortunately Bracknell Ice Hockey Club is unable at present to offer a beginners session for children aged 13 and over or a LTP programme for this age group.
If you are 13 and over and a beginner then we suggest you contact other clubs such as Slough, Guildford or Basingstoke.
If you are 13 and over and currently playing in a Junior Ice Hockey Club in the UK and are interested in trialling for Bracknell ice hockey club then please contact head coach of the club Mike Simmons (under contacts) to arrange a trial at the appropriate age group.
If you are a family moving to the UK from abroad whose children already play ice hockey or are interested then we welcome you to please contact head coach Mike Simmons for information and to arrange a trial.
