Aged 8 to 13 (Stick & Puck Section):
You should be able to skate forwards, backwards and do a hockey stop.
You will require some ice hockey equipment. See List below
The cost is £6.00 for each session, do not pay at reception, the manager collects the fees.
There is an annual (August to July) insurance fee which is compulsory. Cost £20.00

Come along on any Monday by 4:45pm and ask to speak to the under-8's manager (Sarah Eldridge) or the coach.

We will get you on the ice at some time in the session (you have to be patient) and will watch your skating for about 5-10 minutes. If he feels you are OK to join in he will hand you and your parents over to Sarah who will explain the equipment, money and administration side of things. She may also be able to help out with kit loan.
Aged 13 and Over:
You will need to be able to skate well:-
  1. Forward skating with full stride.
  2. Backward skating with full stride.
  3. Forward cross over’s with the ability to execute the skill well one way with a reasonable attempt the other way.
  4. Backward cross over’s with the ability to execute the skill well one way with a reasonable attempt the other way.
  5. Pivots – Forward to backward with the ability to execute the skill well one way with a reasonable attempt the other way. Backward to forward with the ability to execute the skill well one way with a reasonable attempt the other way.
  6. Hockey stops with the ability to execute the skill well one way with a reasonable attempt the other way.
  7. Return to standing from a fall safely.

You must contact the manager of the relevant team in whose age group you fit.
The coach will arrange a test for you, standards are high and places can not be guaranteed.
The ages are taken as at New Year. So if your 12th Birthday is on December 30th you will be trying for the U14 section, and if your 14th Birthday was on January 1st you would also be trying for the U14 section.
Once a player is accepted into a team he or she will have to pay full subscriptions. The fee for the year is approximately £500.00. Exact rates can be found out by asking the managers.
